Starter: Herring Salad


Dutch herring salad

You will need:

  • 2 salted herrings
  • 2 pickled herrings
  • 1 large pickled gherkin
  • 1 large red onion
  • 1 tart apple
  • 3 tablespoons crème fraîche
  • 2 tablespoons full-fat Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • salt and freshly ground pepper
  • fresh dill


Preparation:

  1. Cut herrings, gherkin, on ion and apple in 1 cm cubes
  2. Mix crème fraîche, yoghurt and lemon juice, season with salt, pepper and dill
  3. Stir in the chopped-up ingredients
  4. Serve, sprinkled with dill
